601 N. Lester

Here is a series of pictures that show our building as it was around when it was purchased in the 70s and as it is now.  For more information about our history, please read the History Page.

This view really shows the past function of Firehouse.  The tower is still standing, but at the new Firehouse down the street.

As you can see, most of the trees and bushes have been cleared away.  This was done to help protect the siding.  The large door was removed and a new one put in it's place.  On the side you can see the air-conditioning ducts that were installed when the building was up fitted with A/C.

On the south side, there is a large fenced in lot.  One of our founding members stands atop the steps leading to the rear door.  Since the building was acquired, various repairs have been on going projects like the wall on the south side.
The fence around the lot is now gone and the lot cleared out.  Most exterior repairs have been completed.  The picture is too light to see, but the rear door has been covered.  The layout on the inside now spans across that opening.  The steps have remained in place where the door used to be.
Here is the main entrance on N. Lester.  This was the entrance used to access the building.  Now the North side entrance is the most used.
Not much has changed here.  The double doors where replaced with a stronger single door.  It is not known what happened to the "CCMRC" that used to be above the door.  The webmaster's daughter is pictured on the steps.
